Course Summary

Whether you are called a Team Leader, a Supervisor or a Manager, you will find that a good understanding of management theory and practice can help you to perform more effectively in your role. Now, there is an awful lot of management theory out there, and to cover it all would take a huge amount of time. So, this course is designed to introduce you to a few key theories that focus on the role of personality in management, the need for a situation-based approach and an action based approach. These are models and theories which I have personally found useful and have seen benefit managers who I have trained in my 30+ years in this field. In addition, the course will examine a number of motivation theories to help you gain greater insight into why your people perform in the way that they do and look at what you can do in order to improve motivation within your team. The course will include discussions, presentations and case studies, and you will also be asked to complete some questionnaires prior to attending classes that will be used during the workshop. The content of the whole course is set, but the content of each class can be adjusted according to progress and the level of discussion required around each topic. The course is suitable for anyone new to a management role as well as anyone who is already in a management role and is looking to improve their knowledge and skills.
